Welcome to Savage Arts, the drawings and illustrations of abstract pencil artist Kip Hubbard. Explore a variety of art pieces, both graphite and colored pencil, created over the last nine years. Artwork and t-shirt purchases can be made on this website as well.
Kip was born in Danbury, Connecticut. His family moved east to Old Lyme a year later. Though Kip did not begin his drawing career until his mid-50's, his creative influences were many. His sister, Jane Jennings, is a successful and multimedia fine artist whose work has been shown extensively on the East Coast for decades. Kip's father, John Hubbard, was a talented landscape painter, restoration artisan and inventor. Kip's paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Gates Hubbard, was an accomplished watercolorist.
As a boy, Kip was greatly influenced by the Old Lyme arts community, one of the most influential arts enclaves of the 20th Century. That great arts tradition continues even today at the Florence Griswold Museum and the Lyme Art Association.
